Campbell University’s Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) program is a post-professional doctoral program designed for experienced, practicing PAs seeking to advance their leadership, educational, clinical, and scholarly impact within healthcare. As such, competitive applicants will have at least three years of clinical experience practicing as a PA prior to matriculation.
Applicants must also meet the following admissions requirements:
- Master’s degree:
- Applicants must hold a master’s degree from an ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program. Bachelor’s-trained PAs who have earned a separate graduate degree (e.g., MHA, MPH/MSPH, MS, or related field) are also eligible to apply.
- Professional licensure and certification
- Minimum cumulative graduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Two letters of recommendation
- Letters should be from someone able to evaluate the applicant’s clinical competence, leadership potential, academic abilities and readiness for doctoral studies.
- Personal statement (500-1000 words) describing:
- Professional goals and reason for pursuing DMSc
- Alignment with Campbell University’s mission
- Fit of chosen track
- Curriculum vitae
- Interview* (may be required)
Technical Standard Requirements
Students enrolled in the Campbell University Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) program must possess the intellectual, physical, emotional, and interpersonal abilities necessary to successfully complete the curriculum and fulfill the essential functions of the program. These standards are intended to ensure that students can fully participate in all aspects of the program, which is delivered in a fully online, asynchronous format and emphasizes advanced leadership, scholarship, communication, and professional collaboration.
