Advance your impact in healthcare with the Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) program at Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. This 36-credit program builds on your previous master’s coursework, with up to 12 credits transferred in and the remaining coursework completed over 4 semesters in a 100% online, asynchronous format designed for working professionals
Choose from tracks in Clinical Leadership, Health Professions Education, or Clinical Research and Medical Affairs while developing expertise in leadership, policy, advocacy, and applied scholarship. Through asynchronous learning and a faculty-guided doctoral project, graduates will gain the skills and credentials to expand their role and lead across clinical, academic, research and administrative settings.
Application Process
The DMSc application will open in June 2026. Applications for the inaugural cohort starting in January 2027 must be submitted and completed no later than November 20, 2026.

No. The DMSc program is 100% virtual online and asynchronous.
Yes. Students progress through the program as part of a cohort, completing coursework alongside the same group of peers throughout the program. New cohorts begin each January, and students graduate together in May of the following year.
Yes. The program provides an interactive online orientation, which all students are required to complete one week prior to the beginning of classes. The orientation has been designed to provide information to familiarize you with the technologies and resources available to you as you pursue your academic goal as well as offering the opportunity to meet your peers in a virtual setting.

Bachelor’s-trained PAs who have earned a separate graduate degree (e.g., MHA, MPH/MSPH, MS, or related field) are also eligible to apply.
Students complete the program over four semesters by taking two courses per semester. Courses are delivered in an accelerated 8-week format, with students typically taking one course at a time. During the summer semester, courses are taken concurrently. Each course is 3 credit hours.
Students must successfully complete and defend an applied doctoral capstone project that demonstrates integration of program competencies and the ability to address a real-world problem in clinical leadership, health professions education, quality improvement, or clinical research operations. Final capstone deliverables will include a publish ready manuscript.
