Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the U.S.
  • Bachelor’s degree completed by the end of the spring semester prior to matriculation.
  • Required minimum overall and/or last 60 credit hours GPA > 3.2
  • Recommended prerequisites GPA > 3.4
  • Completion of all prerequisite work
  • All prerequisites must be completed no later than December 31 of the year prior to matriculation.
  • All prerequisites must be done at a regionally accredited institution in the U.S.
  • The program does accept advanced placement (AP) credit from high school for prerequisite coursework.
  • The program does not grant advanced placement into the program based on previous educational experiences. For example, if a student has been enrolled in another medical program (i.e. PA school, medical school), coursework completed in the previous program will not replace any curricular components of our program, if accepted. All required curricular components of the program must be completed.
  • All grades “C” or better; when more than one course taken satisfies a prerequisite the highest grade is used in calculation of prerequisite GPA.
  • No time limit on completed courses.
  • Please note that all prerequisite labs associated with course requirements must be completed in person. Online labs will not be accepted.
  • Courses:
    • One semester of General Biology (for science majors)
    • Two semesters of Human Anatomy and Physiology with labs (this may be taken as two combined A & P courses with labs, or one Anatomy course with lab and one Physiology Course)
    • One semester of Microbiology with lab
    • One semester of General Chemistry with lab (for science majors)
    • One semester of Organic Chemistry or Biochemistry
    • One semester of Statistics or Biostatistics
    • One semester of Psychology
    • One semester of Genetics is recommended

Competitive GRE scores > 300 within 5 years of application:

  • Verbal > 150
  • Quantitative > 150
  • Analytical > 4.0
  • 1,000 hours of direct hands-on patient care experience – visit link to see examples
    • A minimum of 1,000 hours must be completed at the time of application submission.
    • Hours earned from pharmacy technician, veterinarian technician, or laboratory technician experiences can be used as supplemental hours in addition to the 1,000 hours of direct hands-on patient care experience.
    • Hours obtained for course credit during educational training will not count toward the required 1,000 hours.
  • Recommended 20 hours of shadowing a Physician Assistant
