Wellness & Belonging

Campbell PA is dedicated to fostering wellness and belonging among faculty, staff, and students and within our curriculum. To support this mission, Campbell PA established a program-specific Wellness & Belonging Committee, composed of faculty, staff, and students, including the Wallace Student Society Wellness & Belonging Officer.

The Campbell PA program is committed to advancing wellness and belonging through several key initiatives:

A holistic admissions approach has been employed to recruit a more inclusive student body, with adjustments to the application process and additional support resources.

Wellness and belonging have been integrated into the didactic curriculum through expanded lectures addressing topics specific to taking care of one’s mind, body, and spirit. Additionally, grading rubric revisions were made to consider patient context, and students take part in experiential activities addressing underserved populations, including the Campbell University Community Care Clinic and Healthy Athletes serving Special Olympics of North Carolina.

The clinical curriculum includes the Contextualizing Health and Healthcare course which teaches students about integrating community-oriented primary care, the principles of patient-centered medicine, including the social determinants of health, and evidence-based medicine to determine the most appropriate treatment plan for their patients.

The program provides faculty, staff, and students with extensive resources to promote wellness and belonging, including toolkits and centralized online platforms through the university.  These ongoing efforts reflect the program’s dedication to creating a supportive, inclusive environment for all members of the Campbell PA community.
