*Prior healthcare related experience is required and is strongly considered in the admissions process. The DHSc is a post professional doctorate designed for health practitioners, public health professionals, healthcare educators, and healthcare related administrators from a wide variety of disciplines and backgrounds. In general students should be able to demonstrate the expert practice of a recognized healthcare related occupation at a professional level.
**Applicants with GPAs less than 3.0 will need to show professional expertise in their field, including but not limited to any service work related to their profession.
The successful applicant’s health profession may emphasize delivery of services to individuals (e.g., PA, PT, RN, LCSW, etc.) or be population-based (MPH, MHA). An appropriate level of professional practice is generally recognized by either health professions licensure (e.g., RN, PT), a national certification or registration (e.g., PA-C, RVT, RRT, CRNA, FACHE, CHES, CPH), a recognized health professions academic credential (e.g., M.P.H., M.S.N., M.S.W., M.H.A., M.B.A.), or a combination of the above.
Professional experience may be documented by an organizational chart demonstrating the applicant’s position within the organization and a letter of recommendation from a supervisor (current or former) attesting to the applicant’s level of responsibility within the organization. Other forms of documentation may include copies of licensure/certification or custom documentation from a healthcare related organization.
If applicants are unsure if their experience meets the criteria for admission to the DHSc they are strongly encouraged to contact the program staff for further consultation.
Admission Process
Applications will be accepted on a rolling admissions cycle. Qualified candidates will be invited to participate in an online/virtual interview. Interviews are conducted on a rolling basis. Following the interview process, applicants will be notified by the DHSc program of an admissions decision.
